Got cabin fever? The cure is Watson Homestead’s Quilters Retreat!
“Scrap Quilt” Weekend Quilt Workshop
Download brochure here.
Scrap Quilts are once again in the spotlight for this year’s weekend workshop. One of the things that is so great about doing scrap quilts is that you learn something new about fabric combinations with each quilt you do. This year’s quilt will allow you to fine tune your piecing and fabric selection skills while using up fabric you already have on hand.
As in the past, Linda’s construction techniques always contain a bit of magic, and this year is no exception. In addition to getting a scrap quilt full of personality, you will also have a BONUS QUILT out of the cutaways.
The quilt you make this year can range anywhere from table runner size to a bed quilt, as you choose. Your instruction packet will have information for multiple size options, PLUS directions for a second quilt made from the cutaways. Examples of a wall hanging size (with red borders) shown to the left.
Just as in past years, Saturday night is “show and tell” and a good time to share projects that you have created. In addition to quilts, also bring along a non-quilt item that you have made. It can be knit, crocheted, painted, jewelry, scrapbook…just something fun to share.
* Once registered, students will receive a materials list detailing what to bring. Workshop is limited to 30 students and a $5 handout fee for all class handouts will be collected in class.
"Fabric Selection Made Easy" Pre-Retreat Class
(This optional class will be offered Friday afternoon from 2pm – 5pm. Those attending the Full Weekend can sign up for an additional $25 fee. Those interested in attending the Friday Afternoon class only, can do so for a $30 fee.)
Does walking into a quilt shop leave you overwhelmed with all of the choices? Have you ever wondered why your fabrics are not as exciting when they are put together as you thought they would be? If you answered “yes” to any of these, then this skill building class is for you.
During class, you will learn about fabric characteristics, and tips on how to combine fabrics. You will also work with your fabric stash as well as pieces shared among the class, creating your very own Fabric Selection Notebook to reference in future quilt making adventures.
